Having a previous win of 63 v 8 against the Vipers tem this season then the Explorers U16 Team were always going into the game as favourites but a slow start saw them 6 - 5 down within a couple of minutes . However a strong performance in the latter part of the first quarter saw 16 unanswered points taking them to a 21 v 6 lead at the end of the quarter .

From that point on the usual high work rate and strong defence was complimented with some great team work . Many of the points scored in the rest of the game were created by solid team work with other players creating space , accurate passing, effective movement and some impressive defensive steals. Spen Valley Vipers made Explorers work hard for their points and the Home team had to work hard in defence against a spirited and energetic Spen offence which had scored 50 points in their last national league game so clearly had the skills and commitment to test Calderdale and make them compete . The strong team work and support from all team members saw 9 of the team getting on the teamsheet.

A strong last quarter performance saw the Explorers win the last period by 30-1 to take them to an 89-16 win with strong forward driving play reaping rewards
