
With the Junior Squads having been back to indoor training for a couple of months the coaches throught this was a good time to start, post lockdown , to give the teams that matchday experience, competing in timed games , with full refereeing in place before they start to play in friendly games against other clubs prior to the resumption of the National League program for the U14 and U16 sections in September/ October .
Sunday Slam , which will take place at North Halifax Grammar School, will give all the attending players the chance to play in organised teams against other players at the club with full game play rules for the U14 and U16 sections ,scoreboard , substitutions , referees and coaches. All games will be refereed by David Jane and Aaron Kay , one of the Calderdale Explorers Senior teams stalwarts . Teams will be organised and coached by Ben Lee, ALex Mutch and Matthew Ryznar .
From 12 to 1.30pm the U12/Mini sections will be divided into teams to play games against each other with refereeing at the level taking a relaxed approach to ensure contunuity and maximise the fun. From 1.30pm to approx 4 pm , the U14 and U16 players will be divided into 4 respective teams and competing in a organised round robin tournament
Costs of the mini tournament have been paid for by the money raised at Hoopathon 2020 so the event is free to all existing registered players . Parents are welcome to attend and waltch from the viewing gallery above the court.
