September 1st sees the start of a new Basketball year with training sessions resuming at North Halifax Grammar from 6pm to 8pm under the U 14 Coach and also Head of the Junior Coaching team, Ben Lee. Ben is also supported by two older junior players who are part of our junior coaching program, Asia Castle and Keiran Monks.

This year we have looked to upgrade the monthly Saturday events from their existing format and add a competetive structure to the events to give the players the opportunity and enjoyment of playing competitively . Existing players and new attendees at the Thursday night sessions will be assigned to a particular small squad of players consisting of U14 players who attend .The squads will be suitable sized to ensure all players get plenty of game time at the optional monthly events . We will endeavour to ensure squads are as balanced as possible to ensure competetive games. The teams will be assigned a colour based on new numbered bibs we have purchased exclusively for the Community League. So we will have Calderdale Explorers Red, Calderdale Explorers Blue, Calderdale Explorers orange and so on .

The Community League will then take place monthly on a Saturday where the 4 or 5 teams will play in a round robin tournament in structured timed and refereed games against each other . Wins will earn points for a mini league completed on the day .

The Community League event will run from 2pm to 5pm on the first few Saturdays have already been booked at North Halifax Grammar School.

Saturday 8th October
Saturday 12th November

Future Monthly events will be posted nearer the time but the intention is that they will become a permanent ficture throughout the season . Ben , as per last year , will also look at possible friendlies for an U14 team to compete against other clubs, sporadically throughout the year .
